Aligning with Spring – 3 Ways

It’s spring! While most of us were sleeping, the earth came into balance in its travels around the sun. At 3:36 AM Mountain Time it reached a place of neither tilting toward the sun or away.  It’s the Spring Equinox.

Our culture makes it hard to attune to celestial events as there is a lot of competing noise.  But we can be intentional about taking the time to embrace the magic of spring energy which includes new beginnings, balance, and hope.

Here are three simple ways to welcome spring.

One – Honoring Spring

Stop – notice and be present. Be deliberate in going outside to breathe in the spring energy.  Observe the new growth. Watch for green shoots poking up from the ground. Be grateful – We’ve made it through winter. (Yes it is true that we will probably get more snow in Denver, but that’s okay. The hard part of winter is over.)  Celebrate!  Blow some bubbles. Fly a kite. Create and mail “Happy Spring” cards to far away friends. Plan your garden. Even if you are not a gardener, think about planting a few pots with easy to grow veggies or flowers. Find a way to honor the first day of spring.

Two – Embracing Balance

The equinox symbolizes balance.  Align with spring energy by making an intention to bring more balance into your life. One way to do this is to work with a journal (or any notebook). Sit quietly for a few minutes to become centered. Then write the question in your journal, “What would bring more balance into my life?” And then listen – really listen. Your deeper self knows what you need to do. Pick up a pen and begin writing. Don’t censure yourself. Be patient and listen.

Third – Bring a Goal or Dream Into Manifestation

You’ll need some radish seeds for this one. They are easily obtained at a garden center or from a gardening friend. Radish seeds are notoriously fast at germinating which makes them great seeds to plant with young impatient gardeners. But they also lend themselves to creating a lovely spring equinox ritual.

Think of a goal or a dream you want to manifest. Make sure you can visualize it clearly – maybe it is a new job or a creative breakthrough. Maybe it is a beautiful lush summer garden or completing your novel. Or perhaps it is something super practical like your house fully spring-cleaned. Hold that concept in your mind and identify a few words that define it. Now write those words on a tiny piece of tissue paper. You can use any paper that will begin to fall apart as it gets wet. Wrap the tissue paper around your radish seed, plant it in your garden or a pot, and add water.

Be attentive to when the radish seed emerges. As it does, it gives energy to your goal. You don’t have to believe anything for this to occur. By taking the time to clearly focus on a goal and giving it a symbolic boost with the radish seed, the goal will hold your focus. You will be aware of opportunities for bringing it into manifestation. And of course there may be spring magic happening as well!
